Active Manuka Honey is our totally natural antibacterial cream containing 25% of 16+ UMF (activity factor) honey suitable for all damaged skin areas

Active Manuka Honey Anhydrous Cream 25% (AMH 25% Cream) has been formulated to utilise all the known benefits of Active Manuka Honey when used for topical application in an easy to administer form.

The AMH 25% Cream can be applied directly onto the area requiring care, normally without the need of a dressing to hold the cream in place. Applied directly to the affected area the cream forms a waterproof film over the damaged skin.

Active Manuka Honey contains the unique compound methylglyoxal that provides a special natural antibacterial function able to inhibit many infectious bacteria.

Honey has a well established reputation as an antibacterial agent. Its traditional use in many countries has been rediscovered with an added unique effect.

The antibacterial activity of honey is due primarily to enzymically produced Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2), but there is a NON-PEROXIDE antibacterial substance(s) present in some New Zealand Manuka Honey known as NON-PEROXIDE ACTIVITY. This antibacterial quality, beneficial for topical application may also control the bacterial invasion of damaged skin.

The full benefit of ACTIVE MANUKA HONEY is achieved by:
1. The primary advantage is from the unique Antibacterial effect that is determined by tests formulated by the Waikato University NZ as stated by a plus (+) number. Ideal antibacterial activity is achieved if the Active Manuka Honey is 15+ and above. Ref: http://bio.waikato.ac.nz

2. Peroxide effect (H2O2) and this is released from the honey when aqueous contact is made (serum from damaged areas).

3. Honey is a super sugar solution so when applied to damaged skin it draws moisture from the area in an osmotic way so working as a gentle poultice.

Active Manuka Honey Anhydrous Cream 25% maintains the 3 benefits as outlined above. The AMH 25% Cream has the added advantage that it will adhere and cover damaged areas without running off.

For skin areas with minor damage, repeated cover applications of Active Manuka Honey Cream will protect and soothe the skin. Application on a dressing or covering the area with a dressing may be required.

As soon as possible (no infection present) cover the damaged skin area with FiltaBac Cream to allow the skin to breath and recover naturally. No dressing is required with the FiltaBac application.

Application of AMH 25% Cream will minimize bacterial infection on damaged skin areas.

AMH 25% Cream has a skin soluble surfactant added to maximize surface contact.

AMH 25% Cream should not be used when a sterile dressing is required after surgical procedures.

The advantage of AMH 25% Cream is that it can easily and frequently be applied to minor cuts and damaged skin when external bacterial invasion could be a problem.
